Director of Health Information Management

Shift: Day
Schedule: Full - Time Regular

Summary of Job Functions: 

The Director of Medical Records directs the operational aspects of the Medical Records and CDI Departments according to hospital defined policies and procedures to maximize efficiency and productivity following all legal and regulatory requirements. The Director is responsible for the departmental budget, the maintenance of effective physician and intradepartmental relations and the BSA Mission and Vision. The Director interacts with the Medical Staff in a professional and diplomatic manner


EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
 
- Five years management experience within a health information management department and clinical documentation improvement.
- Experience in working with physicians and problem solving.
- Experience with fiscal management preferred.

        
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:

- RHIA required in a management position in a medical records department.


SKILLS & ABILITIES PREFERRED:
 
- Ability to organize, delegate and develop personnel. 
- Calculation and computation skills necessary to create and analyze financial data.
- Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
- Tact, diplomacy, and composure needed for interaction with public and other hospital service areas.
- Ability to process basic functions of personal computer software related to spread sheets or work processors.
- Advanced writing skills necessary for preparation of business letters, reports, inter-office correspondence and presentations.
- Must be knowledgeable of HIPAA hospital regulations, DNV accreditation standards and CMS Conditions of Participation.
