TheOncology department is operated on a twenty-four hour basis. The patientpopulation consists of patients who have been admitted for cancer diagnostics,treatments and chemotherapy. An outpatient infusion center is also locatedwithin this unit, primarily for Oncology patients who get chemotherapy,hydration, injections, and infusions of blood products. In addition to Oncologypatients that make up about 25% of the patient population, this unit alsoservices med/surg patients. There are other types of patients served in theinfusion center also on a case by case approval.

Job Summary:

The Nurse Manager isresponsible for assisting the Director with the overall responsibilities of theOncology Department in accordance with established nursing standards,philosophy and BSA Mission and Vision. The Nurse Manager serves as a vital linkbetween management and the clinical staff as well as strives to achieveefficient, safe and cost effective patient care. The Nurse Managerassists with the day to day management operations of the Oncology unit, alongwith growth and development of the staff. The Nurse Manager helpsto achieve positive customer service scores by rounding on patients and staff,modeling high standards of customer service with the expectation of excellentclinical skills.

License/Certifications/Education:
Current Texas RN; BSN orMSN preferred
CPR American HeartAssociation or American Red Cross
Chemo Certificationpreferred; required within 12 months of assuming position.
Oncology Certified Nurse(OCN certification) preferred; required within 15 months of assuming position.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
3 years minimum recentacute care experience required
Leadership andmanagement skills in a hospital environment
Possess strong verbaland written communication, organizational, teamwork and follow-through skills
Multi-task constantlyand tolerate interruptions
Clear and effectivedelegation skills
Assist with the plan ofcare, evaluate and coordinate care with other disciplines
Solid understanding ofproductivity and patient flow
Communicate effectivelywith all members of the healthcare team

Days:  Monday - Friday
Work Schedule:  8.0 hours - weekly 40+ possible as needed
