Collector, FT Days

Shift: Day
Schedule: Full - Time Regular

  Job Summary :
The Collector is responsible for the effective communication and timely collection of patient accounts for initial phone contact with the insurance company and/or the patient for payment and resolve balances. Must be able to act as a mediator between the two when needed. Assists in answering incoming phone calls as well as customers that come to the office and review/process mail correspondence. Such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning of the area, but also the integration of these services into the overall functioning of BSA. Understands, participates in, and contributes to quality of customer service. Insurance collectors are a specific subset of collectors and specialize in all debts relating to health care, including hospitalizations, surgeries and routine services.

    

Education/Licenses/Certifications:
  High School Diploma or GED


    Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities : 
Must exhibit desire to exemplify the BSA culture, including the BSA Mission, Vision and the BSA Way
  2 - 3 years recent healthcare experience with governmental and commercial customers
  Medical Insurance and collection related experience
  Knowledge of managed care insurance
  Accountability for meeting weekly/monthly cash collection metrics
  Excellent customer service experience and skills with both internal and external customers
  Ability to follow-up consistently with insurance companies
  Good interpersonal and customer service skills (written, verbal, and phone)     
  Good organizational and follow-through skills
  Ability to multi-task constantly and work in a very fast paced environment
  Solid keyboard data entry skills and working knowledge of computers and basic office equipment
  Beginning to intermediate level of expertise with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel
  Position requires fluency in English language to function in job environment appropriately
